Yet as a young artist in her twenties, compelled to race forward without pause or rest, she wished to assign a new meaning to the horse — one that departed from its conventional symbolism. Rather than the anxiety of chasing the future, she embraced the spirit of carpe diem — savoring the fullness of the present moment — and came to see herself reflected in the figure of a joyful, peace-loving Pink Horse.
