사실화 작업을 기반으로 빛과 반사를 이용해 평면을 입체적으로 펼치며 찻잔을 응시하고 사색하며 찻잔의 온기와 향기까지 느껴질 수 있도록 표현하고자 한다. 강아지형상은 따뜻한 찻잔의 연기를 형상화한 것이며 마치 반려견의 부드럽고 따뜻한 털의 온기와 같다고 느껴 시작된 작업이다. 나의 작품에서는 특정 차나 커피 브랜드가 함께 들어가는데 스스로가 느끼고 경험하여 취향이 된 것을 가장 나답게 표현할 수 있기 때문이다. 포세린 시리즈는 거친 린넨 바탕 속 매끄러운 도자기의 표면을 더 극대화하기 위해 시작한 연작이며 계속해서 재료의 다양성에 도전하고 있다. 이번 전시에는 차 명상시리즈 작품들을 출품하였고 ‘쉼’으로써의 차를 즐기며 더 많은 관객들과 작품을 통해 개인적으로 느끼고 경험한 ‘쉼’의 순간을 함께 소통하고 싶다.

Based on realistic work, we want to use light and reflection to expand the flat surface in three dimensions and express it so that one can gaze at the teacup, meditate, and even feel the warmth and scent of the teacup. The shape of the dog symbolizes the smoke of a warm teacup, and I started this work because I felt it was similar to the warmth of a dog's soft and warm fur. In my work, specific tea or coffee brands are included because it allows me to express my tastes through my own feelings and experiences in the most authentic way. The Porcelain Series is a series that began with the goal of maximizing the smooth surface of ceramics on a rough linen background, and continues to challenge the diversity of materials. In this exhibition, I submitted works from the Tea Meditation Series and would like to enjoy tea as a form of ‘rest’ and communicate the moments of ‘rest’ that I personally felt and experienced through my works with a wider audience.

동시대를 살아가는 젊은이들의 모습 속에는 즐거움과 유쾌함과 동시에 무기력함과 혼란스러움이 공존한다. 나는 여느 젊은이들처럼 나의 일과 작업, 인생에 대해 고민들을 해왔고, 타인의 시선이나 사회적 잣대에 휘둘리지 않고 가벼운 놀이를 하듯 즐길 때 비로소 심미적 자유로움과 무한한 상상력의 세계가 열린다. 이러한 생각속의 유희적 태도는 요즘의 20~30대를 일컫는 말인 욜로족(YOLO)을 떠올리게 한다. 욜로는 ‘당신의 인생은 한번 뿐(You only live once!)’이라는 뜻으로, 내일을 위해 오늘을 저축하기 보다는 한번뿐인 인생을 즐기자는 젊은이들의 성향을 뜻하는 말이다. 한편에서는 이러한 세태를 두고 저성장시대에 미래를 향한 기대를 접은 젊은이들의 자조 섞인 모습이라는 얘기를 하기도 한다. 욜로족의 양면처럼 그림에서 서로 상반된 모습들을 보여주려 했다. 혈기왕성함과 무기력함, 가벼움과 진지함, 유쾌함과 무관심의 정서들은 모두 젊은이들이 성장기에서 겪는 방황과 혼란의 정서들이다. 이러한 다양한 감정들 사이를 즐겁게 유희하면서 세대의 ‘웃픈’ 자화상을 가감없이 드러내 보려한다.

In the images of young people living at the same time, joy and cheerfulness, as well as helplessness and confusion, coexist. Like any other young person, I have worried about my work, work, and life, and only when I enjoy it as if playing a light game without being swayed by the opinions of others or social standards, a world of aesthetic freedom and infinite imagination opens up. This playful attitude in thought reminds me of YOLO, a term used to describe people in their 20s and 30s these days. YOLO means ‘You only live once!’ and refers to the tendency of young people to enjoy their only life rather than saving today for tomorrow. On the one hand, some say that this situation is a mixture of self-deprecation by young people who have given up their expectations for the future in an era of low growth. I tried to show conflicting sides in the picture, like the two sides of the YOLO tribe. The emotions of liveliness and helplessness, lightness and seriousness, cheerfulness and indifference are all emotions of wandering and confusion that young people experience during their growing years. By having fun playing between these various emotions, we try to reveal the ‘funny’ self-portrait of our generation without any hesitation.
